An HVAC Contractor – Your Heating & Cooling Expert

Choosing an HVAC contractor can be a daunting task. If you work with the right company, then the process of repairing your HVAC unit can be a smooth and effortless process. Did you know that your energy efficiency can suffer if your HVAC system isn’t installed properly? And if you choose the wrong HVAC company to repair your system, you could end up with an “HVAC Wall of Shame” story to tell your friends and neighbours at the next block party (who wants that?!).

Whether your home’s heating and/or cooling system is in need of routine maintenance, emergency repairs or a total replacement, selecting a qualified HVAC contractor is an important decision! To ensure you hire a qualified professional that best fits your job, here are a few simple tips to help you find the best HVAC contractor for your needs.

Choose The Right HVAC Contractor With These 5 Simple Tips:

HVAC Contractor Selection

Tip #1 Get A Referral

Ask neighbors, friends, and family for referrals for reliable HVAC contractors in your area. Referrals can give a homeowner insight as to the type of experience they can expect from a particular contractor.

Tip #2 Read Reviews

A quick glance at the number of review stars can often be misleading. Be sure to read the written comments and look for HVAC contractors with a good reputation for value, quality and customer service. Read Ignite Heating & Air Conditioning Ltd. reviews on Google here! We also have great reviews on Yelp and Facebook!

Tip #3 Locate An Authorized Dealer

If you’re looking at a particular brand of furnace, check out the manufacturer’s website for recommendations of a local dealer and/or HVAC contractor in your area. For Napoleon products, search here to find an authorized dealer in your area. Ignite Heating is an authorized dealer of Napoleon products!

Tip #4 Look At Reliability

Check out how long the HVAC Contractor has been in business. If a company has been around for a long period of time, it usually indicates that they are well established, familiar with their service area, knowledgeable about the needs of their client base, and have very capable and skilled technicians with many years of experience. Research the history of the contractor and the business.

Tip #5 Don’t Always Go With The Lowest Bid

Sometimes, a lower price doesn’t always mean it should be your first choice. Paying a little bit more will often result in better equipment and service from your chosen company. If there are huge discrepancies in price from one contractor to another, ask them why their prices are set that way. For example, higher prices can indicate better quality of equipment, training of technicians, and above average maintenance agreements.

  • review rating 5  We got a quote from Dan to replace our Furnace and hot water tank. The price was extremely reasonable and we accepted it and scheduled a time for the work to be done. The team of two arrived on time, began removing the old hot water tank and furnace, then put in the new equipment. They completely cleaned up the entire area and took the old equipment away. I am completely satisfied with the installation and the performance of the furnace. I would definitely recommend Dan and his team.

Don’t Be Scared of Furnace Repairs

BOO! FURNACE REPAIRS! HVAC equipment can be complex, expensive, and like any high-performing system, needs occasional repairing. In the spirit of Halloween, we wanted to go over some of the scariest things that can happen to your HVAC unit as a result of improper maintenance – which can lead to even scarier results! Save money and increase your heating system’s efficiency and comfort by having a trained professional complete furnace repairs for you if you find yourself facing one of these scenarios.

SCARY SCENARIO #1: Dirty Filter

Dust and allergens can accumulate on your filter over time, which restricts the airflow and can cause your furnace to work harder to pull the air through. By replacing your furnace filter regularly, you can improve your overall efficiency of the system. This is a simple furnace repair that homeowners can complete themselves.

SCARY SCENARIO #2: Dirty Flame Sensor

A furnace flame sensor is a specialized safety component that is located inside of the burner assembly of a furnace. It detects and confirms whether or not there is a flame burning inside of the furnace. If no flame is detected, the flame sensor will shut off the furnace to avoid a potentially dangerous gas leak into the home! One of the biggest problems with furnace flame sensors is that they can sometimes become dirty which causes them to not function properly. Regular HVAC maintenance by a professional HVAC technician can help prevent this from happening. At Ignite we carry parts for many different models of furnaces and will supply the flame sensor your furnace requires to repair your furnace.

SCARY SCENARIO #3: Pressure Switch Failure

A pressure switch in your furnace is used as a safety mechanism. It is there to confirm the unit is drafting properly. If the unit is not drafting properly, then it does not operate as efficiently and creates a safety risk by not removing unwanted gases that can make your home unsafe. One of the most common service calls we receive is from homeowners needing to replace their pressure switch because like many furnace components, the pressure switch is not an item you can typically find at a big box store like Home Depot. If the pressure switch connections have not been maintained or cleaned this can cause the pressure switch to fail and this is a common furnace repair that will keep your furnace in tip-top condition.

Winter is coming, it’s time for a furnace inspection

Did you know that regular furnace maintenance is important to keep your furnace operating and avoid costly breakdowns and repairs? No matter how expensive the system is or what the manufacturer promises, a complicated piece of mechanical equipment is subject to breakdowns and needs repairs every so often. Much like you wouldn’t leave your car without maintenance for a year, you shouldn’t leave your HVAC system without maintenance.

The benefits of annual furnace maintenance include: lower energy bills, fewer repairs, lower chance of a surprise breakdown, longer equipment life and safer equipment operation.

Our furnace “clean and checks” provide an experienced technician the opportunity to review general maintenance of your furnace and humidifier, as well as, check your electrical, gas and combustion air and venting systems.

We leave a copy of our checklist outlining everything that was looked, and any preventative maintenance tips that we might have for the homeowner.
