Choosing an HVAC contractor and Checking References

How should you begin the process of selecting a contractor?

For starters, ask your friends and associates for recommendations. Word of mouth is one of the most important forms of advertising for small businesses, we have been very thankful to build our business primarily through word of mouth referrals. Contractors are likely to work harder for you if they know that you have a connection to an existing network with whom they are associated.

Once you’ve begun interviewing contractors, we would suggest that you request and check multiple references. Here are some useful questions to ask references:

1) Can they confirm that they hired the contractor in question?

2) Were they happy with the contractor’s work?

3) Did the contractor finish the project on time and on budget?

4) Would they have any hesitation recommending this contractor to someone else?

Beware of references who are unwilling to discuss a contractor, or who give a lukewarm reference. People are understandably reluctant to give a blatantly bad reference about someone that they may work with again in the future.

Air Conditioner Efficiency Tips – #4 of 4

It’s been four weeks and we are wrapping up our weekly air conditioner efficiency series.

Our final tip will help to save you from your air conditioner freezing up, saving you a service call – something you will thank us for! Keep in mind that your air conditioners efficiency depends on having proper air flow. Shutting too many interior doors and floor registers causes central air conditioner systems to go out of balance, meaning there’s less airflow in the entire house.

If you want some privacy, keep doors slightly ajar instead to ensure that the air is able to circulate.

Air Conditioner Efficiency Tips – #3 of 4

Can you believe we are almost half way through summer, our kids love the time off and they wish it was summer all year round.

Continuing with our weekly tips for air conditioner efficiency, this week we want to talk about extending the life of your air conditioner system. By keeping blinds or shades down during the day; you can also install awnings to shield south-facing windows from intense sun you can actually save the running time of your air conditioner which will help to extend its life.

Consider running the air conditioner in conjunction with floor or ceiling fans to circulate cooled air more effectively and shorten the running time of your air conditioner.
